The Inside Edge

Good morning Okemo skiers and riders!  Your eyes are not lying to you; that is fresh snow outside! 1-2 inches fell on the mountain, and reports are that it may be more than 2 inches in spots at the summit. Take a minute this morning and stand looking out the window, coffee in hand, you’ll feel the silence wash over you.  The calming effect of a fresh snow fall is matched by only one other thing, the invigorating effect of a fresh snow fall.  Now that you have enjoyed that moment of peacefulness, boot up and get out on the mountain!

We have 88 trails open this morning.  That gives you 512 acres of terrain to play on.  At 8 a.m. you better be standing in line at one of our 19 open lifts ready and waiting to get up the mountain for first tracks.  Variable and loose granular conditions await you across all 33 miles of trails.

The summit temperature this morning was 28 degrees and temperatures are expected to rise through the day topping out in the upper 30s.  As of 6 a.m. the forecast was calling for snow showers this morning which will taper off and it will remain cloudy through the afternoon.  The 1-2 inches of fresh snow is ready and waiting for you to carve it up!

It is always important to eat a good lunch to keep you skiing hard all day long, and today the place to get lunch is the Sitting Bull Restaurant at the Clock Tower base lodge.  There will be a special Cabot infused menu item at the Sitting Bull all day.  Cabot Cheese is here with samples today from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. out on the plaza.  Later tonight join us at the Roundhouse at Jackson Gore for Raptor Encounter with the Vermont Institute of Natural Science.  Come see live falcons, hawks, and owls, and learn about natural history, and ecology. The show starts at 7 p.m. and admission is free.

Coming up this weekend prepare for some side-splitting laughter brought to you by The Logger, Rusty DeWees.  Rusty is a Vermont favorite and is sure to be a crowd pleaser.  Join us in the Great Room at the Clock Tower base lodge on Saturday, Feb. 25th when doors open at 7 p.m.  The show begins at 8 p.m. This show is best for ages 21+.

The Timber Ripper Mountain Coaster is open today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Just across the hill is our snow tubing hill also open today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.   Stop by and check out all the fun to be had at Jackson Gore.  The AMP Energy Big Air Bag will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today for plenty of highflying fun!

Now stop reading and get out on the hill; there is fresh snow out there!  See you on first chair!
